mHealth Apps for Tobacco Cessation and Guidance for Evaluation and Implementation
Original Air Date: Thursday, August 15th, 2024 @ 2 – 3pm ET
People with mental health and substance use disorders face significant barriers and gaps in care when accessing effective tobacco cessation and recovery services, leading to higher commercial tobacco use and poorer health outcomes. Mobile health (mHealth) applications may bridge this gap by supplying accessible services designed to provide tailored treatment options that promote recovery and long-term wellbeing for individuals with mental health and substance use challenges. However, mHealth apps must be evaluated prior to recommendation or implementation.
Join theĀ National Behavioral Health Network for Tobacco and Cancer Control, at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing August 15 from 2-3 p.m. ET for an enlightening webinar on how mHealth technology may impact tobacco cessation and recovery efforts for individuals with mental health and substance use challenges and how to evaluate mHealth prior to use.
By joining this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand frameworks, scales and a searchable database used to evaluate mHealth apps.
- Recall guidelines for streamlined mHealth implementation in health care settings.
- Apply tools and guidelines to evaluate popular tobacco cessation apps prior to recommendation or implementation.
The webinar will feature the following speakers:
- Teresa Mescher, MPH, Research Associate, Behavioral Health and Wellness Program, University of Colorado Anschutz
- Jim Pavlik, MA, Senior Program and Policy Analyst, Behavioral Health and Wellness Program, University of Colorado Anschutz
