Smoke-free environments in mental health and substance use treatment organizations can reduce
tobacco use among these individuals and improve the health of the staff, and yet many mental health
and substance use organizations face concerns and challenges around taking facilities tobacco-free.

Join the National Behavioral Health Network for Tobacco and Cancer Control on Friday, January 28,
12:00 – 1:30 p.m. ET for an interactive webinar designed to support organizations, leadership and staff
in exploring questions, concerns and challenges around taking mental health and substance use facilities
tobacco-free.

Participants will hear from Mary H. Ward, president of the McLeod Addictive Disease Center, and Taslim
van Hattum, LCSW, MPH, senior director at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing on successes and
failures experienced in these endeavors, and ways to start building short- and long-term plans to take
your facility tobacco-free.

Attending this workshop will help you:
• Learn about comprehensive tobacco-free policy implementation strategies and related
activities.
• Gain insights and access to practical resources around integrating tobacco-free campus policies
into mental health and substance use treatment settings.
• Identify one actionable short-term goal for integrating a tobacco-free campus policy into your
mental health and substance use treatment settings.
