Most people will experience some level of depression, anxiety, fear or distress when cancer impacts their lives. Whether they’re pre-existing or not, mental health challenges affect people at all stages of cancer, from diagnosis all the way through treatment, remission and survivorship. Join the National Behavioral Health Network for Tobacco & Cancer Control (NBHN) for a webinar that explores these challenges, “Coping with Cancer and Mental Health: Personal Perspectives on Cancer Survivorship,” on Friday, September 18, 3-4 p.m. ET.

You’ll hear moving stories rooted in lived experiences from Angie Patterson, vice president of the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education, and Tamatha Thomas-Haase, MPA, a public health practitioner and consultant to federal and state agencies and national non-profits, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Lung Association. Together, these experts will discuss ways to support individuals coping with cancer, build strong mental health resiliency in survivors and how holistic care can affect long-term prognoses and outcomes.

You’ll learn to:

  • Increase awareness of cancer disparities in behavioral health populations.
  • Understand how interactive storytelling can be a central element of cancer survivorship programming.
  • Identify strategies to support individuals with mental health challenges in their cancer care and survivorship.

This event is hosted by the National Behavioral Health Network for Tobacco and Cancer Control, with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
