Implicit bias —the unconscious attitudes or stereotypes that affect how we act toward others – is a topic we usually read about in a social science textbook, not a tobacco cessation pamphlet. Yet implicit bias can matter even more in perpetuating disparate smoking cessastion recommendations, services and supports to individuals with behavioral health conditions. Please join the National Behavioral Health Network for Tobacco & Cancer Control for an upcoming webinar to understand how implicit bias changes care delivery, and learn strategies to counteract implicit bias in tobacco cessation services to reduce negative health outcomes for individuals with behavioral health conditions.
During this webinar, participants will learn about:
- The concept of implicit bias;
- The impact of implicit bias on tobacco cessation treatment for individuals with behavioral health conditions; and
- Strategies for increasing awareness and counteracting implicit bias to support stronger tobacco cessation efforts.
